Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held next Tuesday, October 7th and Wednesday, October 8th from 3:30-7:30 p.m.

If you ordered a personalized yearbook they are here now.  High school students can pick them up from Mrs. Arnesen.  The elementary student books will be put in teacher mailboxes.  

A total of $159.00 was raised for the “Ice Bucket Challenge”, with the Student Council matching the amount for a grand total of $318.00!!  Thank you GMR students and staff!!

Dress Up Week will be September 29th – October 3rd.   The Homecoming dance is this Saturday, October 4th.  Admission is $8.00.

The 10th annual Shanoah's Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, October 5th starting at 3:00 pm at Shanoah Park in Greenbush. Registration will begin at 2:30 pm. This year we are dedicating the walk to YOU, the community of supporters. You were here for us when we started this journey and you have helped us all along the way and for that we are forever grateful.  Please help us make this the biggest and best buddy walk we have had!  Thank you for your support!

The Gator Wrestling team is taking orders for a Gator Wrestling jacket.  Order forms are available in the office. The cost is $50.00 and orders are due October 31st to Mr. Mack.  (Make checks payable to 3xGear)

London, Paris, and the Alps
Current GMR 10th and 11th grade students are eligible to travel on an EF (Education First) Tour in June of 2016 to London, Paris, and the Alps.  Group leaders on this tour will be Mrs. Dahl and Mrs. Lieberg.  We are offering it again in 2016 after a successful EF Tour with four Gator graduates this summer.  An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:00 in the Art Room for interested students and parents.  More information is available on Mrs. Lieberg's teacher page on the school website under the London, Paris, Alps tab.

Vision/Hearing Screening is being held in the  library today from 9:00-2:00.  The library will be closed until screening is completed.  (Block 2 Reading Seminar students are to go to the Art room today).

Support the Greenbush Area Pool at the Touch-A-Truck event on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12th. Fun for all ages - explore trucks, pie social, auction, bake sale, and more! Event will be located at the Greenbush Race Park from 1-4 p.m. with a live auction at 2 p.m.

The Sports Trainer will be here on Tuesday’s.   Sign up in the office if you need to see her.  We will post the schedule on the bulletin board and give you a pass on Tuesday morning.  “YOU” will be responsible for checking your time and coming to your appt.

FCCLA members:
Please pay your $20 enrollment fee if you are joining FCCLA.
Candles sales are due on October 6th.  You can turn them into the office.
Turn your permission slips into the office by October 8th if you plan on going to Crookston on October 14th. 

CLOSE UP:
Pizza corner pizzas will be here on Thursday at 3:00.  Close-Up members who sold must have someone here to pick them up!!

9TH GRADE:
Drivers Ed will be starting on October 21st at 3:30 in Mr. Janicke’s room.  A letter will be mailed out letting you know if you are in the fall or spring session.  The cost is $200.00 and must be paid by the 1st day of class.  Fall class members are to pick up a DE book in the office and read and complete the 15 questions at the end of the 1st 3 chapters by the 1st day of class.

JUNIORS:
You are eligible to apply for the Minnesota House of Representatives Page Program.  If accepted, you will be working at the Capitol for one week for the House of Representatives.  Go to:  www.house.leg.state.mn.us/edprog/app.pdf and talk to Mrs. Lieberg.  Deadline for applications is November 21!

The PSAT test will be given on October 15th.  Juniors who would like to take the test need to sign up and pay $14.00 in the office by next Friday, October 10th.

SENIORS:
The Northwestern Manufacturers Association is sponsoring an essay contest for a $500 prize. Write a 500 word or less essay that answers this question:  What do you feel is manufacturing's biggest impact on your county?  Turn in essays to Mrs. Lieberg before this FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2014!  

Seniors & Parents:  FREE COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK is October 27-31!  Mark your calendars and decide what your top schools are.  Remember, you can apply to more than one college and make your final decision later!  Go to the "For Seniors" page on my website for a listing of participating schools and other pertinent information.  Lists are posted around the school as well.

SPORTS:
It was a Gator sweep last night!  Way to keep them out system on the serve and to utilize free balls.  25-13, 25-17, 25-5.  Gators are on the road tonight to Karlstad where they take on the Freeze—bring your A game and keep the streak going!

An Elite Baseball Academy hitting clinic will be held in Ada, Minnesota on October 5th.  The clinic is being run by Darin Everson, a hitting coach for the Colorado Rockies AA Farm team.  Interested baseball players should contact Mr. Stanelle for more information.  There is a fee to attend this clinic. 

Gator Volleyball Reminder:   The fundraising order will be in October 8.  Please make arrangements to pick up your boxes and deliver as soon as possible!

Activities for today:
Volleyball vs Northern Freeze at Karlstad.  The black/green/C/JV/V will play at 4:45/6:00/4:45/6:00/V.  Badger players ride the practice shuttle to GB and MR players ride the regular shuttle and then the 1st bus will leave GB at 3:45.  The 2nd bus will leave GB at 5:00.

Activities for Thursday:
Volleyball vs Roseau.  The green/black will play in Badger at 4:30/5:30 (2 games).  The C/JV/V will play in GB at 4:30/6:00/V.
8/7 football vs LOW in Badger, 5:00/6:00.


Activities for Friday:
Football at Fosston, 7:00.  (KTRF will be broadcasting)

ELEMENTARY:
Elementary football “Gear turn-in” is planned for Thursday, October 2nd after school in GB until 5:00.

STAFF:
MIDQUARTER is this Friday, October 3rd.  Deficiencies will be mailed out as they are turned in.
